Belgacom Joins COCIR

Belgian national telecoms provider Belgacom has announced its decision to join COCIR. Having followed the developments in the healthcare sector for many years, Belgacom is joining COCIR to add its voice to the other leading healthcare and IT companies which make up its membership. The decision of such an important Belgian company to join COCIR coincides strategically with Belgium taking over the European Presidency for the next six months.
Christian Dezangré, Business Innovation Manager Health at Belgacom said “The communications industry is at a critical point in its evolution. The health sector is seen as one of the key domains where the use of Belgacom’s ICT assets is allowing the development of innovative business values for users. Belgacom is actively supporting the Belgian stakeholders in their move to eHealth solutions. Joining COCIR, the leading organisation in healthcare IT, will help us communicate also at European Union level as well as providing a vital source of information and contacts with the healthcare industry.”

Nicole Denjoy, COCIR Secretary General said “We are pleased to welcome Belgacom to our healthcare IT family, one which is growing extremely rapidly and successfully. eHealth and telemedicine is one of the fastest growing sectors in our industry.”
