Orange New Member of COCIR

Orange, the key brand of the France Telecom Group, is the latest member to join COCIR. Through Orange HealthCare, the healthcare division of France Telecom group, Orange provides e-healthcare solutions by applying its telecommunications expertise across three core areas: health professional solutions, health management solutions and solutions for prevention & wellness. It integrates the concept of communication into every aspect of the healthcare sector in order to facilitate its processes. E-healthcare is one of the more prevalent of the emerging sectors that telecom operators have identified as having considerable potential. The role of telecom operators in e-healthcare is not confined to providing communication and connectivity services: such services will play an important role in improving the general health of the population, with the hope that by providing better information tools, consumers can identify issues before they become critical and require professional intervention.
Elinaz Mahdavy, Orange European Affairs and Strategic Partnerships Manager said “Orange is proud to be joining COCIR today. We are confident that our technological know-how will better enable COCIR to meet the needs of all stakeholders in the health sector. New technologies are key to modernising and improving healthcare. We will work together with COCIR to further improve the available technologies to ensure better care in hospitals, local clinics and surgeries as well as in the home.”

On announcing Orange’s membership, COCIR Secretary General Nicole Denjoy said “We are delighted to welcome Orange to COCIR. Orange, a worldwide company, will strengthen COCIR’s leadership in eHealth by bringing their additional expertise in telecommunication, complementary to other competences which already exist in healthcare and IT. At the same time, Orange’s commitment to wellness and eHealth and its access to the R&D activities of the France Telecom group will provide COCIR members with invaluable eHealth research inputs. This will further trigger the development of innovative eHealth solutions, leading to improved healthcare for all across Europe which will be crucial and valuable in the context of Innovation Partnership launched by the European Commission recently.”
